The Design and
Theory
|
|
|
|
|
Cars
are designed to cut or slice through the wind to decrease the fuel
consumption and to handle better. This would be a requirement
for cars that travel on highways.
|
|
Theory:
If you are traveling at 30m/ph, the head wind is 30 m/ph give or
take with the natural wind speed and direction. The current design
of cars is to streamline through the wind to lessen the drag on the
car. The Windcatcher car is designed to catch the wind and
turn it into energy. The will be a certain amount of drag on
the car but, if the inner panel and air ducts are designed
ergonomically to channel the head wind into energy. Battery
technology has evolved enough to generate enough energy to travel
short distances to get to and back from work or the shops.
This is a short distance car. It is the weekday car. If
one looks at the commuter from Monday to Friday, one maybe two
people drive to work, the car sits the whole day waiting to be
driven home and that where it sits until the morning. The time
at work and the time at home is loss of energy. These times
can be used to charge itself to give added energy. |
|
HOW TO CHARGE WHEN STANDING STILL
An add on product to the car. A wind blower that attaches to or
built into your car that works off the home power point. It
provides a trickle charge
|
The Windcatcher is designed to evolve as new and better technologies
are developed.
- Option 1:
- Works on a low consumption petrol
engine.
- Automatic 250cc 4 stroke petrol.
- Option 2
- Hybrid technology
- Option 3
- Self generating energy unit
The engine is below the occupants as to give a mid engine with a
low center of gravity for better handling and stability.
If it breaks the whole system is taken out as a sealed unit and is
replaced with a new unit. The broken system is then sent back to the
factory for repairs.
