Tomorrow is going to be a big day for me, I am having my tonsils removed you see!  Bubble dragons do you know what it will be like?  Maybe you can ease my fears tonight.

The bubble dragons cuddled up close and smiled knowingly, the bubbles  they blew surrounded me!  Now, now there is nothing to fear, it will hurt a little, but in no time you’ll be back out again running in the sunshine!

Sleep now little friend you need your rest, we’ll watch over you and take care of the rest.

We arrived at the clinic at around seven, they said I would be in bed number eleven.  Mommy filled in the forms and cuddled me, it will all be over really soon- you’ll see! 

Hello a voice said, and how are you, I am the ward sister who will be taking care of you.  Mommy lifted me up onto my bed, you’ll need to change into that gown the sister said.

 The bubble dragons peeked out from my bag,  a bubble escaped , my tummy felt sad.  I got all changed, they looked the other way, I was really nervous I had nothing to say.  Ok then now its time to start, this is Jenny she will listen to your heart.  Jenny asked some questions about sicknesses I had had, she was kind, mom was glad.

Before I knew it it was time to go in, time for the operation to begin.  The doctor said hello and how are you feeling today, a little scared I heard myself say.  There is no need to be scared we will take very good care of you. 

They put a mask on over my face, it smelled quite different a smell I could not place.  They were talking and I felt tired, I  slept for a while they removed my tonsils and the next thing I remember is being rudely awakened. 

I felt all confused, the room was swimming, I began to cry, my eyes were brimming.  Then mommy came in and she smiled at me, mommy’s safe arms made it seem much better for me.  I was taken back to my bed and tucked in I felt really sleepy and I gave in. 

When I woke again, my throat was sore, mommy  had bought me cooldrink and chips at the corner store.  She asked me to have just a little sip, I was not happy, I chewed on my lip.  I had a sip and then I had two, the doctor says you will feel better if  you chew, so chew I did till the crisps were finished, I did feel better the pain had vanished. 

After a few hours mommy took me home, she sat by my bed she never left me alone.  All this time the bubble dragons had sat in my bag and not made a peep they had quietly  watched me while I was asleep, they were such good friends they had not dared to peep.  Mommy thought they were toys you see , something grandma had given me. 

The next morning when I woke up, I felt a bit better my throat was still sore but getting better.  The bubble dragons were careful not to hurt me, they climbed up on my chest carefully.  They stared into my eyes and asked how I felt, you have been so tired we were worried about you, I am still sore, but soon we’ll have fun, we’ll be running around in the sun.

 They bounced up and down and shrieked with glee, the bubbles they blew hovered above me.  One by one they plipped and plopped how happy I felt I loved them a lot.
