In the woods not too far away, is a place I know, where I go to play.

It’s home to creatures oh so small, sometimes I wish that they could grow tall.

They really do love to play; they’re wise and bubbly, but at first hide away.

I found this place one day on a walk; I was lost and alone and afraid to talk.  It was getting late I had to get home, I did not want to be out in the woods alone.  I stood still not sure what to do; oh gee how I wish mommy were here too!

I looked around for somewhere to sit, and there was a rock on which I could fit.  I walked to the rock and began to sit down, when all of a sudden I began to frown.

Now what was that?  What had I seen; a tiny bubbly little being.  It darted away – out of sight.  My heart jumped, I got a big fright!

I decided to sit and wait and see; if that little being would show itself to me.  I sat for a long time; afraid and alone; all I wanted was to go home.

As I looked up; what did I see?  Four tiny eyes staring up at me.  Two little dragons as small as can be, sat near the rock watching me.  I must be dreaming, how could this be?

I closed my eyes and counted to six; were they real or was my mind playing tricks.  I opened my eyes slowly and they were still there, it really gave me quite a scare.

Then they blew bubbles up at me; I ran and ran until behind a tree.  They had not moved, they sat so still;  I snuck up on them from behind the hill.  I watched and waited just to see; if they would want to play with me.

Then I asked in a funny voice, my own voice was gone; I had no choice.  Little dragons so small and tiny; where did you come from?  Were you hiding behind me?

One little dragon began to speak; but his tiny voice was just too weak.  They were little and I was tall; I wondered if I would be able to hear them at all.

Then a bunch of bubbles came out of one’s mouth, the wind was blowing, they all went south.  I bent right over until my head touched the ground; the bubbles they blew were perfectly round.

I forgot I was lost and afraid to talk, this had become a marvellous walk.  I was excited, not scared anymore; I had two new friends; I had to know more!

Then a voice spoke behind the bubbles they blew, is there something we can do for you?

Well, I was out walking and looking around; I was lost, I felt silly,  I looked down at the ground.  I have become lost; if it wasn’t for you – I really don’t know what I would do.  I don’t understand how this could be; the bubble dragons just sat and blew bubbles at me.  Then they giggled between the bubbles they blew; when we were little we did that too!!

Do you live here I heard myself ask.  I thought dragons were from the past.  Yes we live here and it’s true, dragons are from the past, but now some live here too!!

This was exciting I began to feel; how much fun we could have now that this was real.  I watched the dragons and the bubbles they blew; what would mommy say, if only she knew.  We sat and talked they were so enchanting, they came from over there where the farmer was planting.

They knew all about me and told me too; of my bike and how I wished it had place for two.  Gee I said,  how did you know that, maybe daddy and I should have a chat.

He could make me another seat, and we could find a place to meet.  We could go all over exploring, riding my bike would never get boring.

I had such fun, I wanted to stay, but the bubble dragons said they’d come another day.

The bubbles dragons flew just above my head, lighting my way home to my warm, cosy bed.  They shimmered in the moonlight and blew bubbles all the way.

This really was a wonderful day!!
